Consultation on refugees and asylum seekers

MUMO supporting some children from our new communities.

Forthspring Inter Community Group is working with an increasing number of refugees and asylum seekers, giving the organisation insight into some of the issues our refugee and asylum seeker community is facing.  MUMO made a submission to The Executive Office’s recent consultation on the subject.

MUMO called for:

-our government to send a clear message of support for refugees

-safe passage for refugees and asylum seekers

– right to the dignity of work

-an increase in the amount of time allowed (28 days) to find accommodation, apply for universal credit or
access a job after they are granted asylum

-an increase in the weekly payment to refugees and asylum seekers (£39.63).
